About

Joanna Taylor

I paint from moments of attention: when something in the landscape or in experience becomes still and present. Through simplification, repetition, and quiet shifts in color and form, I work toward a sense of alignment between what is seen and what is felt.

My work moves between external observation and internal states. Landscapes begin in direct experience and are reduced toward essential structure and rhythm. Other works explore more internal moments — tension, disruption, and resolution — through composition and gesture.

Across both, I am interested in holding a moment so that it can be extended, not described.
